Education
Doctor Alexios Machairides graduated from the Medical State University in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2009. He is an experienced interventional Gastroenterologist / Hepatologist and Internist with specialized expertise in gastrointestinal oncology as well as the complex pancreas, liver, and biliary disorders. He trained and worked in Germany in several teaching hospitals as an attending physician for many years. Doctor Alexios has undergone additional training to perform advanced endoscopic procedures such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Cholangioscopy/Pancreatoscopy (SpyGlass®), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Abdominal Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound, and many more. Doctor Alexios Machairides has a special interest and dedication to liver/pancreatic diseases and in the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal, esophageal, gastric cancerous, and pre-cancerous lesions.
